Falmouth is the capital of trelawny, located between ocho rios and montego bay,falmouth was created from seaside land owned by famous english romantic poet elizabeth barrett browning's grandfather,edward moulton barrett.
In 1790 barrett sold some of the land to his friends but keep the water front and donated some to build the courthouse,church and a public gardens.
Most of falmouths narrow streets are named after 18th and 19th century british subjects,king street,queen street,charlotte street,pitt street,victoria street and wellington street.
Jamaica was the worlds largest sugar cane producer and many planters came to falmouth with their slaves.
There were more than 25,000 slaves in trelawny in the late 1800's,merchants like DeSousa,Delgado,and Lindo also came,
Many two and three family Georgian style houses were built in falmouth some of the finest outside of britain.
In the late 18th and 19th century falmouth was one of the busiest towns in jamaica.
